Are you risking your health for heels?

A recent poll found that 4 out of every 10 women buy a pair of shoes knowing they don’t fit... why on earth do we do this?

FOR THE SAKE OF FAHION THAT’S WHY!

The study was carried out by the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists, the most shocking finding being that 37% of women would wear uncomfortable shoes as long as they were fashionable. Madness I hear you say!

Lorraine Jones, from the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists, said: "Many of us find it hard to resist a bargain and the latest fashion must-have, but it's important to remember that by buying ill-fitting shoes, you're not only going to end up in discomfort, but you are also putting your health at risk."

The most important thing to remember when buying a pair of shoes is that if your feet hurt something is wrong. This doesn’t just apply to killer heels, flats can also cause discomfort ... in fact slip-on shoes are one of the worst culprits because they cause your feet to slide forward without support.

The Society recommends that for frequent, everyday wear, women should choose a low-heeled shoe - no higher than 4cm - which has a rounded toe.
