Autumn Colours Exposed!

How time has flown by! We are already in the autumn season but we are still seeing some of that summer sunshine, which is making it ideal to stay away from those dull colours and continue with injecting some colour over the autumn months.

Khaki, camel and tan hues, wine, rust and the all time classic red are all the autumn colours to follow - we are also seeing hints of animal print; especially the leopard print, as this is making a big comeback too.

Khaki is a colour that suits most skin tones and falls in shade of an almost olive tone, the colour is keeping its presence from the military look we had earlier this year. So military jackets in this shade are a great investment and blazers too, as well as parkas that could also give a different dimension.

Camel, I believe is a colour that has evolved from the nudes we saw through spring, it has become stronger. One thing about this colour is that it goes and compliments every skin tone and like the colour black, partners well with most colours already existing in your wardrobe. With this colour it is advise to go with more accessories rather than piling this colour on too much, I would suggest tan or camel skinny belts as these are making a wardrobe staple comeback. Bags, like the satchel in distressed chocolate brown also compliment this colour very well too. I love this neutral and it’s not black!

Wine is a colour that is quite a hard to pull off, as it could just become dull and faded. I think the one bit advice I would give for the wearing of this colour is not to over indulge in it, meaning that a little goes a long way. So, I would suggest using this colour as a foundation to build other colours on top.

Classic Red. This is a colour that just has that classic 1950’s feel to it and suits almost every skin tone. Have subtle hints such as the red lip or nails or get sultry with a classic red dress whether it is figure hugging, body-con or a tulip style or even a slim line pencil skirt with a chiffon feminine blouse.

The leopard print this season is something we will never get bored of. We’ve seen it pop up earlier in the year with use of colour opposed to the original print we all know and love. This print is ideal for autumn; as it gives any outfit that statement feel during the duller period. This print can easily look over done so I would suggest wearing just a scarf or bag or simply choose one garment to be your statement whether it is a dress, coat or simply an accessory.

So lets just make it clear that to make a statement with these colours they do not all have to be put together at once unless they organically complement one another. As always iStylista stock most if not all of these wonderful autumn colours in the range of clothes to kick-start your autumn capsule wardrobe.

See you next time!
