We recently went on the hunt for interesting statistics relating to British women and what we found out was fascinating. If the combined statistics hammered home one thing it was the fact that the North & South of Britain are very different cultures when it comes to beauty and fashion regimes and beliefs... enjoy!

Boob Stats:

  • A quarter of UK women would actually like to make their breasts smaller
  • The average British bra size currently measures in at a substantial 34DD
  • Only 1% of us choose a bra over its supportiveness and 83% on looks
  • 1/5 of us have never been professionally measured for a bra and 77% of us are wearing the wrong bra
  • The northwest is the breast capital of the UK when it comes to plastic
  • Manchester women have had 87% more boob jobs than London women
  • Women in London and the Southwest seem to be more content with their breasts than their Northern counterparts.

How long do we REALLY take to get ready?

  • Women spend a whopping 3,276 hours in a lifetime just getting ready for a night out at the weekend
  • Men spend far less time getting ready, averaging just 1,092 hours in a lifetime
  • 67% of young women find the time spent getting ready for a night out an actual chore while only 33% really enjoy the experience
  • 71% of Northern women claimed to go out twice a weekend compared to just 49% of Southern counterparts.

Makeover Madness

  • One in three UK women would rather Eat less than cut beauty spend
  • Over 70 per cent of women claimed that beauty products were an every day essential rather than a luxury item and spend a whopping £17 billion on cosmetics every year
  • The average British woman spending more than two years (840 days) of her life in front of the mirror in pursuit of good looks and youthful skin
  • UK women use nearly 5,000 litres of foundation, enough to fill 8,000 pint glasses
  • The average British woman spends over £30,000 in a lifetime solely on cosmetics
  • Northern women on average undergo 28 makeovers in a lifetime versus a national average of 26
  • Women in the North of England change their look on average every two years for a confidence boost
  • 37% of us try to save failing relationships by changing our look to grab the attention of an uninterested partner
  • One in ten Northern women (9%) change their look to copy their favourite celeb idol, and topping the popularity charts are Kylie (28%), Posh (15%) and Madonna (13%)
  • Nearly three out of four women (74%) are concerned that changing their look is expensive and a quarter are afraid of looking like a fashion victim.

  • The trusty Wonderbra was still top trumps in the quest for sexiness (45%) with magic pants a close second at 42%
  • 37% of us rely on fake tan, 37% on dim lighting and 19% on breast enhancers
  • Only 16% of women believe a short skirt makes a woman look sexy and only 18% said the same of a low-cut top
  • Women named a little black dress (57%), killer heels 43 (%) and snug-fitting jeans (38%) as making them look, and feel, sexiest.
