There is certainly an eclectic mix of trends this season and it’s a wonder where one should start, but the secret to dressing yourself slim this season is to hand pick flattering styles that work with your shape. It’s all about creating illusions and focusing on accentuating the body parts you feel most confident about.

Skinny jeans and leggings are still huge but it doesn’t mean you have to follow the pack. Develop your own style. For us mere mortals, straight or bootleg style trousers and jeans in solid dark neutrals, with higher waistbands will definitely look more flattering. Wear with a shapely thicker high heel to appear elevated.

Pencil skirts and shift dresses with higher fitted waistbands will reveal a slimmer waistline, perfect for wearing to work or in the evening with eye catching accessories. Both are incredibly versatile staple items and will suit every shape! Perfect with dark patent platform court heels.

Party season means dresses will come out in force and if you need help creating a smoother silhouette invest in a pair of waist or thigh cinching magic knickers. A must if you want to appear a dress size smaller!

Three quarter length coats and knitwear in dark solid colours will make you appear slimmer when worn open with a lighter or brighter coloured top underneath. Longer pendant necklaces and silk printed lightweight scarves will also lengthen your figure.
