How To Re-Energise Yourself

We all know that late nights and too much stress can make us feel tired and looking less than wonderful. But there are also many other drains on our energy that are the hidden enemies to our well being. Face packs, good make up and sitting with your back to the light (!) are some purely cosmetic ways of looking less fatigued.

  • Positive Energy

But there are more effective ways of boosting your energy levels and putting the glide back in your stride and that twinkle back in your eye which will have you looking and feeling good inside and out.

One of the simplest ways to raise your levels of well being is to stop tolerating the small irritations in life. When we tolerate things we instantly start to put up with the unacceptable and, like a pebble in your shoe, it slowly begins to cause pain and make life feel unbearable.

That annoying colleague who talks over you, the friend who calls at midniht to tell you the next installment of her turgid love life, that cracked tile in the bathroom, the shoes tumbling out of the bottom of your wardrobe; all irritations which drain our energy. Decide to tolerate no more. Make a list of your tolerations and decide to zap them all and watch your energy soar.

Here are some instant tips which will raise your energy levels and make life seem infinitely easier:

  1. Avoid energy vampires – user friends or negative people who make you feel down and drained after 5 minutes in their company.
  2. Prepare for your weekly menus ahead – fill your fridge with fresh, organic ingredients so that you have fresh ready meals when you get in instead of relying on take-aways or fast food snacks each evening. Get groceries delivered.
  3. Hire a DIY man to put up that shelf/mirror/fix the door/mend the lights or whatever so that your home supports and nurtures you and is a haven to return to.
  4. Build in safety nets of time and money so that you aren’t running up against deadlines/being late or having dangerously low bank accounts.
  5. Drink more water than you think you will need and cut down on tea, coffee and alcohol.
  6. Replace sweet sugary snacks with organic fruit.
  7. De-clutter your home, office and life but operating the Three D’s – Do it, Dump it or Delegate it.
  8. Under promise and over deliver. Don’t say you’ll do something to look “good” and then add to your workload. Be realistic with promises and build in contingency time.
  9. Decide to walk more (without your IPod or mobile on) and enjoy nature or taking in your urban environment.
  10. Hire a coach!

Your energy and well being are precious so decide to invest in treating yourself well. Running on empty serves no one, least of all you.
