I found Spanish Clara making her way down Brick Lane for a night out with the girls. She has highlights on the top so the hair softens her face as it falls. Plenty of hairspray is key to this look for volume and to prevent flyaways. If your hair doesn’t have that natural wave, use a rounded brush as you blow dry, or flick the ends with a straightener to give it that movement. I love the flick of hair she has left by her ear!
Sophie is a student I spotted in Liverpool Station. She has used wax to mould her hair into this style, and hairspray to fix it in place. After a blow dry to shape the style, if you need a little help with the height then you can backcomb the roots at the top of the crown of the head. She has finished off with a turquoise bow in keeping with the hair trends for 2010, which is a pretty little accessory to complete her outfit.
Luana has a full head of beautiful curls. Curly hair is usually naturally dry, but she uses plenty of products to de-frizz, including Sebastian Potion #7. This formula deeply nourishing your curly hair and prevents frizz, resulting in soft, shiny, bouncy ringlets.
Documentary producer Candy Thize has gone for this trendy, sophisticated updo. Leaving the top section, she has pulled the hair at the back and tied it tightly up, to create a highly placed mini ponytail. The top section has been backcombed at the roots for height, and smoothed over into a quiff. The side swept fringe is pinned back behind the ear and voila! A creative updo for the evening or day wear.
I saw Rose in Portobello Market in London. I first noticed her lovely feather hair accessory, which I had recognised from the stalls around us. As I stopped her for a closer look, I saw her stylish plaited updo. She created a fish plait on either side of her side parting and simply pinned them at the back. She describes this simple, but eye-catching hairstyle as the perfect way to “hide your bed head”.
Pictured in Portobello, Franky’s style is unsurprisingly inspirational, as she works as a personal stylist for Gap. She has gone for twisted dreads for her afro, accessorising with a headscarf. I love how she has supported her hair, using the width of the headscarf at the back, and tying it into a cute little bow at the front. I know I’m commenting on hair styles but I can’t resist pointing out her unique, bright blue dotted makeup. I feel a trend coming on...
Jo, a Yoga teacher I spotted in Canning Town, loves her dreads and so do we! She has had them for 10 years, getting the roots re-dreaded every so often. Dreadlocks require little maintenance and are so easy to style. As you can see, tying them back into a loose bun creates a completely different look.
Emilie rocked this very trendy, blunt cut fringe in the streets of Southampton. Unique, perhaps not, but fashionable and beautiful? I think so! She cut her fringe herself to update her haircut.
I also saw Michaela in Southampton. She loves her bright colours and expresses this through her bright, apricot hair. This is also a huge hair colour trend for 2010, even though the likes of Vivienne Westwood has had this as her signature colour for years.

Shopping is a chore for some, a joy for most but for some it’s an addiction identified by varying labels, and commonly understood as compulsive shopping. This condition mainly afflicts women and a trawl through the net gives myriad reasons for the disorder.
