Our worst pastime when shopping – queuing!

Did you know that we brits spend an average of 155 days of our lives in queues whilst on shopping trips according to QVC. That’s 47 hours per year... so no wonder it’s been found to be our most irritating facet when it comes to the High Street.

  • Don't you just love a good queue!
Don't you just love a good queue!

This fact may be the simple reason so many of us are heading online. I mean whose go the time these days to queue? Often regarded as utterly pointless it can get rather annoying... and then the queue rage starts to kick in!

In fact, 47% of us suffer from what is known as queue rage with 21% admitting that have stormed out of a shop after queuing for three minutes or less (I’m guilty!). A frightening 20% of us argue with other shoppers and 29 per cent admitting to raising our voices or getting angry with shop staff!

So why is it that we don’t mind patiently queuing outside stores like Jack Wills at Sale time? ... well, it’s because there’s a bargain at the other end.

In fact bargains change everything, especially in this tight climate.

Top Ten Shopping Hates:

1. Queuing (55 per cent)
2. Unhelpful or 'superior' shopping assistants (39 per cent)
3. Busy stores (36 per cent)
4. Poor quality goods (34 per cent)

6. Bad store layout (30 per cent)
