Spend Trends – a quick glance at what the UK fashion industry is doing!

- UK spending on clothes maintains momentum although most of us are feeling the credit crunch (could it be retail therapy at work!)
- Over 6 in 10 consumers (64%) go clothes shopping once a month or more
- On average we’ve spent £222 each on clothes in the last three months
- 66% of us continue to prefer quality over lower prices
- Cotton is our fibre of choice with 46% of us saying it is best suited for today’s fashion
Dollond & Aitchison, The Opticians, have also just released some fascinating findings relating to sunglasses:
- Half of the GB public (53%) don’t think female celebrities look sexy when wearing sunglasses
- Over two thirds (69%) of consumers ranked following the latest celebrity style as the least important factor when choosing sunglasses
- The ultimate sunglasses fashion crime was wearing them in the evening, according to half of the population (51%)
- Over a quarter of people (26%) don’t know that UV 400 lenses offer the best eye protection
- One in ten consumers don’t know what a UV rating is even!
