Spring Summer 2010 Trench Coats Trend

Trench coats have been around for years and originate back to the first world war, when designer Thomas Burberry created the jacket.

The lightweight, waterproof design was perfect for the soldiers coping with the terrible conditions in the trenches, and perfect for us! We love trench coats for the way they nip us in at the waist, keep us warm when it's cold, cool when it's hot and, of course, keep us dry when it's wet.

This is the perfect cover up for spring. Wear an oat coloured trench coat with a pair of thigh high socks, strappy heels and some shades for a casual but sophisticated daytime look. Transform the look into night time by swapping the light coloured trench for a deep blue number that can be teamed with a pair of black tights, a clutch and a pair of heels - and you're ready to paint the town red!
