Stylist walks out over size 14 models

There’s been some commotion this week at London Fashion Week when a designer decided to use size 12 and 14 models and his stylist decided to storm off.

Not all of us are lucky enough to be size 8 – 10 so when designer Mark Fast decided to incorporate only size 12 – 14 models to show off his collection it was a ‘Harrah’ for women kind... about blinkin time we say!

Mark Fast, known for his sculpted mini-dresses that reflect the recent body-conscious trend decided to call upon three models to showcase his knitwear collection and within an hour of his show a journalist tweeted saying that Fast's stylist had resigned over his use of the models.

I think you’ll all agree that the days of anorexia promotion on the catwalk have got to go and more designers need to stand up to this cause. Unfortunately the 2007 Model Health Inquiry was launched by the British Fashion Council in response to the death from starvation of several models who had been slaves to the size-zero trend but it clearly hasn’t worked. More needs to be done to combat this.

Vogue’s editor recently went to the lengths of writing to top designers in June this year, asking for larger-sized clothes for the magazine's photo shoots. This is a start, but perhaps Vogue should refuse to showcase any products that use models that are less than a size 6... that would certainly change a few things pretty fast!

Perhaps the likes of Victoria Beckham can start eating properly and setting a decent example to the youth of today!
