Welcome Guest
Kate Moss the 5 ft 6.5 inch model from Croydon south London was discovered at the tender age of 14 by Sarah Doukas, the creator of Storm Model Management. She noticed Kate at JFK Airport, after a holiday in The Bahamas, but it was only when she was featured in The Face magazine at the age of 15 that she really attracted attention. In vast contrast to the "supermodels" of the 1990s, such as Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer who were known for their tall lean figures, Ms Moss soon became the "anti-supermodel" and was an immediate success, despite her height.
She went on to become even more popular, fronting the campaign for Calvin Klein, and working with major Italian, French, American, and British designers including big names like Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Louis Vuitton, Versace, Roberto Cavalli, Chanel, Missoni, Longchamp, David Yurman, Dior, Yves Saint-Laurent, Burberry, Stella McCartney, Rimmel and Bvlgari. She was also chosen for a campaign for the successful Brazilian label ELLUS during summer 2000.
Moss has been shot for fashion spreads in Vanity Fair, The Face, W Magazine and International Vogue for the U.K. U.S and French markets, with W Magazine even referring to the model as the muse for their inspiration. She has worked with the most well-known photographers in the fashion industry today, such as Mario Testino, Mario Sorrenti, Steven Klein, Juergen Teller, and Peter Lindbergh and, in addition to being known for her modelling work, Kate Moss is an international fashion icon, hitting the best dressed list many times in numerous magazines.
In 2005, however, things took a turn for the worst for this British beauty when she was caught in the act snorting cocaine. It turned out to be one of the biggest scandals of the time and several fashion giants ditched her, including Chanel, who revealed that they would not be renewing the model's contract to be the face of their Coco Mademoiselle fragrance. Just twelve months later, however, she made a comeback by bagging 18 top modelling contracts for the Autumn/Winter 2006 season, with top brands like Rimmel, Agent Provocateur, Virgin Mobile, Belstaff, Beymen, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Roberto Cavalli, Longchamp, Stella McCartney, Bulgari, Chanel, Nikon, David Yurman, Versace, Mia Shvili, Calvin Klein Jeans and Burberry. In 2007, Kate then went on to produce her own fragrance and body lotion range called Kate Moss, as well as launching a successful collection for topshop.
Astonishingly, she earned more money after her cocaine scandal than ever before and, with estimated earnings of $9 million that year, she was the second highest paid model in the world behind Gisele Bündchen, with an approximate fortune of £45 million.
Model, muse and designer is just not enough for this multi talented woman, who has also been known to DJ on more than one occasion, been featured in a number of music videos and sponsored various charities. We just have to wonder what’s next on the list for Kate Moss.
