We all love a bit of lipstick, a quick pick me up for your daily schedule, but did you know that you can supposedly learn a lot about a person or yourself from their lipstick?

Next time you’re out with the girls or having a dull day in the office, gather your girls’ lippies and take a look at the shape of the used lipsticks.

1. Slanted tip, close to original shape - You are careful and keep reserved, avoiding too much attention. Although you do go for a new hair colour or outfit now and then to boost your self confidence. You thrive on schedules and usually abide by the rules.

2. Rounded tip to a point - The sharper the point, the more ambitious you are. You’re get up and go attitude means you are loveable by all, especially the family as they are the pride of your life. You’re known to exaggerate and can sometimes be stubborn over little things. But you’re loveable nature ensures you are never alone, which is good for you as you thrive on having others around.

3. Rounded, smooth tip - People love your easy-going and even tempered nature. You are usually always happy, and seem to be the peacemaker with your friend’s problems. You like to brighten people’s day with a splash of generosity.

4. Flat top - You’re always one to rise to a challenge, with your quick thinking and to-the-point nature. Friends know they can rely on you, as you always stick to your high morals. You tend to be careful with your appearance.

5. Sharp, angled tip - Routine is boring for you, you’re much too high spirited to work to schedules. You’re loud and outgoing, but sometimes your highly opinionated views gets you into arguments. You’re also very selective of your friends.

6. Flat top, concave - Your complex and inquisitive nature would make you a great detective. Making friends is never an issue for you, as you lead such an adventurous and exciting life.

7. Sharp, angled, but curved tip - Attention is always on you, which you love, as you’re talkative, enthusiastic and energetic. You think with your heart, which feeds your creative flair, but also means you tend to fall in love easily.

8. Sharp angles on both sides - You love life and are very spiritual, yet you hold a sense of mystery. Your curiosity finds you seeking attention, with little or no issues of self-confidence holding you back.

You can also read into a person’s character and mood through the colour of their lipstick, although that’s a little less surprising. There is so much general meaning behind colours, whether it’s on your bedroom wall or your dinner plate. But remember to choose your lipstick according to your skin tone and eye colour, not just your personality. Finding the perfect, complimentary shade can contribute to making your skin appear more radiant, eyes appear brighter and even flatter your body shape and facial structure!

Red - The most popular lipstick choice, and there’s a shade to suit all. Demand respect with your show stopping colour! Deep, dark reds emit passion and energy, signaling a women feels sexy and sensuous. While studies have shown that brighter red pouts bring better career prospects. Depending on your skin tone, aim for a red with more bluer hues, as this will make your teeth appear whiter.

Pink - Screams femininity and youth. Pale pinks indicate you are happy and have a fulfilling sex life.

Natural - Muted shades are great for the office. It exudes professionalism, whilst keeping you looking down-to-earth and approachable. Opt for your true lip shade, or a shade darker, to even your lip tone and make you appear ‘done’ in seconds. This is the ultimate accessory for women of all ages.

It gives a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘let your lips do the talking’, don’t you think?
