DJ: “Are Heels Becoming More Important To Women In The Workplace?”
Chantelle: “Interesting question... more and more females are filling executive positions within what were traditionally male dominated arenas. I’m talking about banking, accounting, law firms, trading etc. BUT women are often still fighting for ‘a voice’ in the boardroom and one simple way to achieve it is through how we dress in the workplace. More and more of my clients make up these professional women who simply need some guidance as achieving more stature and confidence at work – and they appreciate that one of the quickest ways to achieve this is through their appearance.”
Chantelle: “As for heels, well these make up an important part of the corporate look and they are not called ‘power heels’ for nothing! From a psychological standpoint they make you taller and therefore give you immediate confidence and presence. Heels also represent femininity which in turn provides us comfort in what is often a workplace still dominated by men.”
DJ: “Does The Height Of Your Heel Represent How Successful You Are?”
Chantelle: “In terms of your question ‘Does The Height Of Your Heel Represent How Successful You Are’, well yes it does! You just have to look at all the glossys to see the most successful stars in 6 inch heels. The main reasons for this are because; heels are in, they make you feel 10 times taller and therefore more confident, they slim your legs, and finally they are a fantastic way of projecting a little bit of your personality. From a body language perspective, it’s no secret that the first thing we look at when we meet someone is their shoes – they say so much about a person.”
DJ: “So why are heels making a comeback?”
Chantelle: “In a recession like we are experiencing where money for clothes shopping is tight, heels are an immediate fix for making us feel better about ourselves. Not only this, but heels also change the look of an outfit in an instant. For example, if you are a corporate dresser in blacks and greys, then just try teaming a pair of stylish vibrant heels with your attire and draw the eye in... you’ll be amazed at the positive attention you get!”
